TOP 3 HEISMAN TROPHY VALUE PICKS 2019-2020

The standard chalk picks of Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence, and Jalen Hurts do not come with excitement nor good value; not to mention, last year’s winner – Oklahoma’s QB Kyler Murray was set at +2200 or 22/1 preseason.

D’ANDRE SWIFT – UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA RB 17/1

D’Andre Swift out of Philadelphia, PA, is a player to have your eyes on when picking your 2019-2020 Heisman winner. He makes defenders regret going for him with his “swift” cuts and trucking ability. Oddsshark has him at +950, 247Sports is putting him at +5000, while you can currently pick him on Bovada at +1700.

As a freshman, he had Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to admire. You would think it would be hard for a player to shine when joining a team with two astounding veterans, but Swift kept a close eye and learned from these Current NFL backs. As a Sophomore, he split time with Elijah Holyfield. During his two seasons with Georgia, he recorded 7.6 and 6.4 yards per carry, respectively. Oklahoma led the 2018 average yards per carry among NCAA College football at only 6.6 yards per carry. Additionally, he nearly doubled his total rushing yards from his freshman to sophomore year – going from 618 to 1,049. Aside from carrying the ball, he is a threat to run a quick route and explode up the field. As a freshman, he collected 17 receptions for 153 yards and a touchdown. As a sophomore, he caught 37 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns. With this upcoming football season, being the Bulldogs’ #1 running back, the sky’s the limit. D’Andre Swift will produce record numbers in the SEC in his junior year.

SAM ELHINGER – TEXAS LONGHORNS QB 16/1

Sam Ehlinger could lead the Longhorns to the college football playoffs and potentially become the stand out star. Coming off a rebounding 10-4 season (the Longhorns haven’t won 10 games in a season since ‘09), he will be starting hot and declaring respect from the Big 12 Conference after setting the record for 308 straight passes without an interception. After beating the Georgia Bulldogs in last year’s Allstate Sugar Bowl, they have proved themselves to be one of the teams to defeat, which Ehlinger won MVP.

Ehlinger is both a threat to go deep and to be able to stomp over a defensive line. With 425 pass attempts, he locked in 275 of them for 65% (Trevor Lawrence – Clemson QB 65%, Tua Tagovailoa 70%, and Will Grier – West Virginia QB 67%). He is right with the big names and is geared up for a breakout year.

K.J. COSTELLO – STANFORD UNIVERSITY QB 60/1

Stanford has a rowdy schedule off the bat, that being said, if Costello and the Cardinals come out 4-0 after they take down Northwestern at home, Southern California away, Central Florida away, and Oregon back at home, K.J. will be sitting fairly high as a Heisman contender. Those are all big games that will be talked about nationwide — that is what sets up Heisman winners. They can produce the numbers all they want, but they need to get to the essential games that everyone watches, and dominate. We saw this with Saquon Barkley, Penn State R.B. when he was arguably the best candidate and still didn’t win. Some would think it’s safe to take Costello at +6000 and cut the bet early if your provider has that function because of how high the odds are right now. Overall, a great opportunity for a stud quarterback to shine out of Santa Clara, CA.
